Single, Gay and Lesbian Parents

LGBT couples and singles are welcomed by the clinics listed when legislation permits. Some clinics are restricted by the regulations imposed by their governments, however I endeavor to work with clinics who do not discriminate based on a parents sexuality or single status.

Sperm Donors:
Sperm Donor IVF or IUI is available widely. For single women and lesbian couples, we recommend Cyprus, Greece, India and Mexico. All these clinics have sperm donors available and you are able to select from profiles that meet your criteria.

Additionally, you can buy your own sperm from a sperm bank, and have it shipped to your clinic for use- country legislation permitting. This is advantageous if you wish to have a known donor, with the possible option of future contact for your child/children and to select from photographs with detailed personal information.

Using your Partners Eggs:
Lesbian couples may wish to use one partners eggs with the other partner carrying the baby. Several of the clinics we work with are very open to assisting couples who wish to do this. It is normally charged at the same cost as IVF with a small additional fee to prepare the carrying mother. Both partners will be required to provide the relevant test results to ensure there are no pre-existing conditions prior to proceeding.

Egg Donors and Surrogacy:
Gay couples/single men most often require both an egg donor and a surrogate, however if you have your own egg donor, the clinics are happy for you to bring her once her test results have been approved.

I do not work with any clinics offering traditional surrogacy (where the surrogate is inseminated or has IVF using her own eggs) as legally and biologically she is the mother of the child- therefore the ethical aspect does not sit well with me or the clinics I work with.

Asia A new option for Surrogacy, programs began April 2015. The surrogate is named on the birth certificate along with the biological father. This country has no laws for surrogacy, therefore a local pasport for baby under the 'mother's' nationality is possible. The clinic has a legal team contracted to screen Intended Parents and to provide all assistance with exit paperwork and documentation.

USA are able to offer surrogates and known egg donors with full profiles and birth in the US. Baby is eligible for a US passport, which may be advantageous for taking baby home without lengthy delay or when parents have complicated processes for their own nationality passport.

Greece The biological father is named on the birth certificate along with the surrogate mother. Birth in Greece with a choice of donor ethnicities.

Mexico: The surrogate is named on the birth certificate along with the biological father. There are no laws for surrogacy in Cancun's state, therefore a local pasport for baby under the 'mother's' nationality is possible. The clinic has a legal team contracted to screen Intended Parents and to provide all assistance with exit paperwork and documentation.

I do not recommend Ukraine for singles/LGBT- despite what clinics or agencies may advertise, single fathers/mothers and gay couples are not legally permitted to proceed with surrogacy or have an egg donor. Therefore your rights are not protected and you may face a situation where you are unable to claim/bring your baby home.
